Telinka (tylinka) is a type of flute without traditional finger holes. The instrument has only two holes, so the difference in notes is extracted by the musician's breathing force and the pressure of a finger on the air outlet. The telinka is made of maple wood with a base tone from note D.
The telinka is considered to be one of the oldest wind instruments, and its predecessors were tubular bones, reed, bamboo or clay tubes.
Externally, the telinka is a cylindrical tube 500-650 mm long (depending on which note the instrument is tuned) and is made of special resonant wood. In an open calf, the upper end of the tube is pointed. The musician presses the calf to his lips and, holding it obliquely, blows air at an angle so that the air stream intersects with the sharp edge of the barrel wall. The calf's scale is built on overtones.
